Bruce's Uncle Warren passed away this past Saturday and the funeral was today. We traveled with his parents 1 1/2 hours last night and then back for the viewing and then again this morning made the trip again. We had a good time with them going back and forth in the car, and got to talk with them a lot. It was good also today to see Bruce's sisters and one of their husbands and give each other comforting hugs.
This photo of Warren was a few years back, and before he was diagnosed with cancer. He battled cancer for at least a year and a half, and his last months were very hard, painful, and discouraging.
He was a very caring, compassionate man, always serving others, and being there for other people. He was spoke very highly of by his fellow officers and friends. His wife of 44 years loved him very much and his daughter, sons, and grandsons. We will miss his gentle smile, and hugs. He thought very much of Bruce, and was a great encourager for him.
We are very thankful that this past Christmas Eve we were able to spend time with him, and Bruce was able to ask him about his future and if he knew where he would be, if he were to pass away. At that time he was doing very poorly with his cancer. He told Bruce that he knew he would be in heaven, and that he had accepted Christ. We are thankful that Bruce was able to have that conversation with him, and that we will one day see him again.
This was however a very sad day, and very tiring. We are thankful for our families, and that God has blessed us with loving, caring parents, who guided us and taught us to love Our Lord and Savior. Uncle Warren was only 62 years old. Cancer is a very ugly disease, and we are thankful he is in no more pain. He served on the Sheriff's dept for over 30 years.

So sorry for the loss of Bruce's Uncle but so good that you can rest assured that he is in Heaven now and does not have to suffer any more. Lots of times people will say well, he or she is better off now since they don't have to suffer any more and they really don't know whether they were saved or not. It was good to hear that Bruce had talked to his uncle about where he would spend eternity if he were to die.
Hi Kimberly. So sorry for your loss. I see that he was a sheriff... was trying to make out the uniform. Your blog looks so lovely with thefall decor. I also love the photo of the 4 girls shot from above! (((Halloween Hugz)))
Awww sweetie, I know this has been a week of saddness for you and your family, and my prayers continue for you all.
My brothers funeral is on Saturday at 2.30pm followed by cremation. You are so right, cancer is a horrible disease.
On a very different note, I just wanted to wish you a very happy birthday for Friday. Of course here it's already your birthday...funny huh? Don't worry, I won't eat your birthday cake early! Do you have anything special planned? I hope you have a wonderful day.
Love you lots and Tina has done a great job on your blog here. How apt are the words of the verse she used "To everything there is a season........" God has his perfect and appointed time for everything.
